Mitsubishi Motors PH says they will show “something unexpected” at PIMS 2024

The countdown to the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) has started and we’re definitely excited to see what the 17 participating brands have to showcase.

Among them is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) which just announced that it will be surprising the public with its product lineup as well as something unexpected at this year’s edition of the motor show.

What’s confirmed is that they will be showcasing their two latest models—the Triton midsize pickup truck and Xforce subcompact crossover, along with an “immersive experience” during the four-day event.

The company also said in their press release that “MMPC aims to showcase its vision for the future of mobility through Mitsubishi Motors-ness which means offering an all-in-one vehicle that combines unmatched capability, advanced safety, and exceptional comfort—ensuring a superior car experience.”

That does not really tell us much in terms of what vehicle we’ll be seeing, or if it even is a car. We’d like to assume though that it will be the hybrid versions of the popular Xpander and Xpander Cross 7-seater compact MPVs given that these could really match the company’s mention of “an all-in-one vehicle that combines unmatched capability, advanced safety, and exceptional comfort.”

The Xpander and Xpander Cross hybrid versions—dubbed the e:MOTION—were revealed in Thailand earlier this year and get a 1.6-liter Inline 4-cylinder DOHC MIVEC gasoline engine paired to an electric motor and generator. In total, these are good for 116 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque mated to a new e-CVT.

The fact that this year is by far the biggest PIMS with seventeen participating automotive brands makes us very excited to join the motor show,” said MMPC President & CEO Ritsu Imaeda. “Our display lineup this year reflects our commitment to meeting the ever-changing needs of the Filipino market. We’re looking forward to demonstrating Mitsubishi Motors-ness thru our display and giving the public a glimpse of future mobility,” he added.

The 9th Philippine International Auto Show will be happening on October 24-27 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
