BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: Geely PH opens reservations for facelifted Coolray

It’s finally coming!

Geely Philippines has announced that reservations are now open for the heavily revised version of its very popular Coolray subcompact crossover, a little over two years after it was first unveiled in the brand’s home market of China.

The Geely Coolray gets a major redesign.

Despite still using the same body, the Coolray receives major changes. Starting from the exterior, it gets Geely’s Vision Starburst design language with its new front fascia with a larger front mesh grille, and sleeker and sharper headlights. The front bumper also gets more angular lines while the side gets minor tweaks plus new alloy wheel designs.

Are you liking the new exterior of the Geely Coolray?

The rear has also been completely redone with slim full width taillights, more angular lines like in front, and a more aggressive rear bumper and faux diffuser, still with quad exhaust pipes.

The interior receives a major overhaul with a sleeker look and updated tech.

Inside, the Coolray has been completely redesigned with a sleeker and more futuristic look. On the dashboard, a new panel houses a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system which finally comes with Apple CarPlay connectivity. The airconditioning vents have also been repositioned while the rest of the interior features new seats and door panels, among others.

Another major change can be found under the hood where the new Geely Coolray is now powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 184 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. It is still mated to a 7-speed (wet) dual-clutch transmission

Safety-wise, we are hoping that the Geely Coolray will be offered with advanced driver-assist systems such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring, just to name a few, as these features can already be found as standard in most of its rivals.

And for pricing, we don’t have official information yet however, some Geely sales agents have been posting it to be at Php 1,299,999 for the top-spec variant, which is interestingly the same price as the current top-spec Coolray SE Sport.

Sources say the SRP will remain the same at Php 1.299-million.

As time went by, the Geely Coolray despite its popularity was eventually left behind by newer and more feature-packed rivals. Hopefully that all changes once Geely Philippines launches this new version. As the first new model under their new management, these are exciting times for sure!
