The latest in Philippine motoring.

These are the confirmed specs of the new Geely Coolray in PH

As you already know, Geely Philippines, now under the management of Geely Automobile International Corporation (GAIC), has officially opened reservations for the heavily-updated Coolray subcompact crossover. We released an article about this but missed-out on their press release as it arrived in our email’s spam folder.

Anyway, the Chinese automaker has announced that interested customers may already view it at their nearest Geely dealership by the second week of this month. That’s not all, Geely Philippines has already confirmed some of the specifications and features that the local-spec version will come equipped with.

Well for starters, you already also know that the popular subcompact crossover receives major design changes with the brand’s Vision Starburst design language with its new front fascia with a larger front mesh grille, and sleeker and sharper headlights, as well as a completely revamped interior featuring a more modern and sleeker-looking design.

Confirmed features for the Philippine-spec version are energy matrix LED headlights, Tomahawk-style 18-inch alloy wheels with “sporty” calipers (whatever that means), leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system which finally gets Apple CarPlay connectivity.

It also gets a new exterior paint job option—Purple Prism with a blacked-out roof.

As for its powertrain, this will be a new 1.5-liter NordThor Power turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 174 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. It is still mated to a 7-speed (wet) dual-clutch transmission as before.

And for safety, Geely Philippines says that the new Coolray will get blind spot detection and intelligent automatic parking assist like before. There’s also a 540-degree HD panoramic camera system with a built-in intelligent four-way HD digital video recorder (DVR), as well as a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

It is still unknown if the updated Coolray will finally come equipped with advanced driver-assist systems such as adaptive cruise control or autonomous emergency braking. These will certainly help it stay competitive as the majority of its rivals already come with the said safety assist systems (and more) as standard.

Pricing and variants have not yet been announced, but looking at social media posts by excited sales agents at local Geely dealerships, the updated Coolray will come in two variants—Premium and Sport, priced at Php 1,199,000 and Php 1,299,000 respectively. We’ll have to wait for official announcements though.

We are proud to bring the new Coolray in the Philippines. This flagship model that introduced the Geely brand to the Philippine market back in 2019 has captured the hearts of many Filipinos. We are honored to offer it anew with all its upgraded key features that will power-up every drive,” says Head of Geely Philippines, Mr. Will Wan.
