What is Toyota Motor PH gonna show at PIMS 2024?

It looks like Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is set to give us quite the show at the upcoming 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) as they teased today what we can expect from the four-day event.

The teaser, posted on the Japanese automaker’s official Facebook page shows two sedans draped in covers, but showing their lighting signatures. Of course, we have our suspects.

The first vehicle, shown in the back, seems to match the lighting signature and body silhouette of the Yaris Ativ subcompact sedan, which is known as the next-generation of the extremely popular Vios. This has been missing from the local Toyota lineup for a while now as it first debuted in 2022 and is already available in most of our Southeast Asian neighbors.

This is certainly exciting as the current generation Vios dates back all the way to 2013, with big and small updates introduced even in recent years. The new one rides on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform shared with the Avanza and Veloz twins, the Raize, and the Yaris Cross. It gets a complete redesign inside and out with sleeker and more premium details, new powertrain options, and added safety equipment.

You can watch our quick walkaround of the Thai-spec Toyota Yaris Ativ here.

The second one is a bit more challenging. Shown in front, our best bet is that it would be the all-new Camry midsize sedan as this recently made its regional debut in Singapore and is the only other sedan that TMP currently offers.

However, you’ll notice that the lighting signature matches that of the current generation Camry so perhaps TMP is using it as a placeholder.

While the midsize sedan segment is still not seeing much hope in terms of sales locally, TMP still enjoys their monopoly in the segment with the local discontinuation of Mazda 6 (sedan) and Honda Accord.

Whatever TMP brings to the 9th PIMS, it will certainly be exciting especially with the Japanese automaker being relatively quiet this past year, only holding the launch of the refreshed Corolla Cross, and quietly updating the rest of its lineup, as well as quietly introducing the all-new Land Cruiser Prado.

The 9th Philippine International Motor Show will be happening this coming October 24-27 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City. See you there!
