BYD Sealion 6 achieves five-star ANCAP safety rating
The growing number of BYD Sealion 6 owners in the Philippines will be happy to know that they’ve purchased a very safe vehicle, as the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has given it a perfect five-star safety rating.
The Sealion 6 is the Chinese automaker’s latest crossover model to enter the Philippine market. Its ANCAP safety rating is based on results from the testing of its fully-electric Seal-U counterpart in Europe.
Additional testing was done for the BYD Sealion 6. That includes an additional frontal offset (MPDB) test and an oblique pole test, where it performed well for both. It garnered a total of 144.16 points in the following categories:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 88% or 35.51 points
- Child Occupant Protection (COP): 86% or 42.52 points
- Vulnerable Road User Protection (VRUP): 83% or 52.59 points
- Safety Assist: 75% or 13.64 points
“The BYD stable continues to offer high levels of safety to its customers, with the Sealion 6 now joining the Dolphin, Seal, and Atto 3 as five-star vehicles,” said ANCAP Chief Executive Officer Carla Hoorweg.
For the Philippine market, the BYD Sealion 6 is only available in one variant. This is already fully-equipped with various safety features which includes a complete suite of advanced driver-assist systems which means the results of this safety assessment should mirror that of the local-spec version which is definitely good news.
