IT’S OFFICIAL: Chevrolet PH now being led by Fe Perez-Agudo
It’s officially official. After rumors surrounding a takeover at Chevrolet Philippines, it has been announced that Maria Fe Perez-Agudo is now the American automaker’s new President and CEO.
This was announced at a dealer conference held at the Auto Resources Center in Calamba, Laguna which was the former headquarters of the Hyundai and Changan brands in the country.
Agudo was previously at the helm of Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), and most recently Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI). At present, she is also the President of the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID).
With her appointment as Chevrolet Philippines’ top executive, a new “Rework” strategy was launched to transform the Chevrolet business in the local market.
“First thing on our agenda is to strengthen our bonds with loyal customers and to broaden our market scope, recognizing and acting upon the diverse demands for quality and service of our growing customer base,” said Agudo.
“Chevrolet Philippines stands on the brink of transformative progress. We assure our customers of products of exceptional quality that will foster customer loyalty, and of offers that mirror their true value. We are proud to support this with a network of service-oriented professionals, all contributing to our customers’ enriched Chevrolet experience,” she added.
During her time with Hyundai, the Korean automaker saw tremendous amounts of growth, putting the brand in third place behind Toyota and Mitsubishi in terms of sales. The entry of Changan under her leadership also defied the odds as it happened at a challenging period for the local automotive industry, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chevrolet Philippines has been facing several setbacks and challenges over the past few years, including the discontinuation of its most popular models—the Trailblazer and Colorado. Hopefully, with Agudo at the helm, things definitely go around for the brand.
