Nissan updates Magnite in India, LHD version confirmed for export
While most probably aren’t familiar, Nissan has another subcompact crossover in its stable. Called the Magnite, it was first unveiled for the Indian market in 2020. For 2025, it receives an update.
Why is this significant? Well Nissan has also confirmed that they will soon begin exports of a left-hand drive version of the Magnite to over 45 markets around the world. This further strengthens our assumption that the Magnite will be one of the four vehicles that Nissan Philippines will be showcasing at the upcoming 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
Anyway, let’s talk about the changes which are headlined by a slightly redesigned front grille and a more rugged bumper. It also gets a new alloy wheel design and clear lenses for the taillights.
Inside, it’s largely the same as before but with an updated infotainment system which now gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a wireless phone charger, redesigned digital instrument cluster, and four-color ambient lighting. It also now gets a two-tone orange and black color scheme.
Additional features for this update also include remote engine start, walk-away lock and approach unlock functions which allow you to lock and unlock the vehicle by just approaching or walking away, a cooled glove box, and an on-board air ionizer.
As before, powering the Nissan Magnite is a 1.0-liter HRA0DET turbocharged Inline 3-cylinder engine that produces 100 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT. Sounds familiar? That powertrain is shared with the local-spec Nissan Almera.
If launched in the Philippines, the Magnite could sit under the Kicks e-POWER as the Japanese automaker’s entry-level crossover offering here. It would compete with the likes of the Toyota Raize and Chery Tiggo 2 Pro.
Nothing is confirmed yet at this point and its possible appearance in the PIMS could be used to see if our market actually wants it. Do you think the Nissan Magnite has potential here in the Philippine market?
