The Chevrolet Captiva is back in PH, price starts at Php 1.258M

After a few years of absence, the Chevrolet Captiva is officially back in the Philippine market as Chevrolet Philippines, now under Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), launches it as their latest seven-seater crossover.

At one point, the Chevrolet Captiva was one of the American automaker’s most popular offerings in the country until it was eventually discontinued less than a decade ago. This new second generation is based on the Baojun 530 compact crossover which is developed and produced by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture in China.

For this new iteration, the Philippine-spec Chevrolet Captiva is available in two variants which you can see below along with their respective prices:

• Captiva 1.5 LT – Php 1,258,000
• Captiva 1.5 Premier – Php 1,408,000

Design-wise, the new Chevrolet Captiva wears SUV-like styling with an MPV silhouette, reminding us of the Honda BR-V. The front fascia features split headlights and a large grille while the rear gets wraparound taillights and a bumper with faux exhaust tips. 

Opening the doors reveals a fairly basic interior which makes use of simple lines. Front and center is a tablet-style touchscreen infotainment system for a modern touch. As mentioned, it can accommodate seven passengers (including the driver).

Standard equipment on the LT variant are halogen projector headlights, LED daytime running lights and taillights, front and rear fog lights, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, 7-inch driver’s display, leather seat upholstery, urethane steering wheel, 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a four-speaker audio system, 

Moving up to the Premier adds LED projector headlights, a panoramic sunroof, 6-way power adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Under the hood, the Chevrolet Captiva is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine that produces 150 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT.

For safety, it gets the usual six airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, stability control, traction control, hill start assist, rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera. The Premier adds a 360-degree camera system and front parking sensors.
