PIMS 2024 | Kia PH expands EV lineup with the EV9, priced at Php 5.888M
Kia Philippines, under the distributorship of ACMobility, is strengthening its push for electrification as it expands its lineup with its second fully-electric model.
Launched today at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) is the EV9. Initially revealed at the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, the EV9 is the brand’s first three-row electric crossover, and is also the first three-row EV to land in our market.
Being a three-row crossover, the EV9 measures at 5,015mm long, 1,980mm wide, and 1,780mm tall, making it larger than a Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest. It is also built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) which it shares with the EV6, as well as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and 6, among others.
From what we saw in Seoul last year, the EV9 is inspired by Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy with its futuristic design elements in its Digital Tiger Face which features vertical headlights with “Star Map” LED daytime running lights.
Since we get the GT-Line AWD variant, it also comes with a Digital Lighting Pattern Grille, sportier bumpers, 21-inch alloy wheels, a roof rack, and various blacked-out trim.
Three exterior paint job options are available—Ocean Blue, Snow White Pearl, and Aurora Black Pearl.
Inside, it goes for a simple design with the use of mostly horizontal lines and smooth surfaces. Features include a Panoramic wide display housing the dual 12.3-inch screens for the driver’s digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen (with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and some touch-sensitive controls.
Powering the Kia EV9 for the Philippine market is a 99.8 kWh lithium-ion battery and dual (front and rear) electric motors. Those produce a combined 384 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, and allows the EV9 to drive 505 kilometers on a single charge.
Charging can be done through Type 2 AC charging or CCS2 DC charging.
For safety, the EV9 gets Kia’s Drivewise suite of advanced driver-assist systems composed of smart (adaptive) cruise control, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, lane follow assist, forward collision avoidance assist, and rear cross traffic alert. It also gets a 360-degree camera and blind spot view camera systems.
The Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD is now available at Kia dealerships, priced at Php 5,888,000.
