PIMS 2024 | Chery Auto PH launches refreshed Tiggo 2 Pro, previews another Tiggo 5X Pro update
Chery Auto Philippines, under the distributorship United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), is strengthening its presence in subcompact crossover segment as it launches and previews another set of big refreshes for the Tiggo 2 Pro and Tiggo 5X Pro, respectively.
Starting with the Tiggo 2 Pro, this crossover is the Chinese automaker’s entry-level model. This refresh is its second since its local launch and brings plenty of changes.
On the outside, the updated Tiggo 2 Pro gets a completely redesigned front fascia with more aggressive and sleeker lines featuring segmented daytime running lights which are integrated with the larger front grille, and a redesigned rear end which now gets a full-width light bar. Its interior has also been redesigned with a much more modern and premium look.
Regardless of variant, features include halogen headlights, 16-inch gunmetal gray alloy wheels, an analog instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch display, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather and fabric combination seat upholstery, and a wireless phone charger.
Powering the updated Chery Tiggo 2 Pro could be a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated Inline 4-cylinder that makes 113 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT.
The refreshed Chery Tiggo 2 Pro is priced at Php 738,000 for the M/T variant, and Php 888,000 for the CVT variant.
Meanwhile, not yet launched but coming soon is another update to the Tiggo 5X Pro. Revealed earlier this year in China, this update gives the crossover some similar cues from the larger Tiggo 7 Pro.
On the outside, its front fascia is completely new with headlights similar to that of its larger sibling, matched with a large front grille which is almost as wide as the entire width of the vehicle. It also gets a new set of alloy wheels and redesigned C-pillar, as well as sleek-looking full-width taillights.
Inside, its dashboard has also been redesigned, lifted straight-out from the latest Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro but implemented in a smaller package. It features a single housing for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster which both measure at 10.25-inches, as well as a new steering wheel which gets a more premium look.
Under the hood, we can expect the refreshed Tiggo 5X Pro to have a carry-over 1.5-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This makes 156 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT on higher variants, while lower variants will retain the 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that produces 114 horsepower and 141 Nm.
