PIMS 2024 | Updated Honda Civic lands in PH with Php 1.6M starting price, hybrid and turbo power
The compact sedan may no longer be as popular as it was decades ago, but that’s not stopping the Honda Civic from becoming a bestseller in the segment.
And to sustain that, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has officially launched the refreshed version of the 11th generation of the iconic nameplate at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). This also marks the arrival of another electrified model from the Japanese automaker in the Philippine market, after the Honda CR-V which was launched last year.
For the 2025 model year, the Honda Civic is available in two variants, across three trim levels. Here’s what they are and their prices:
- 1.5 V Turbo CVT – Php 1,600,000
- 1.5 RS Turbo CVT – Php 1,790,000
- 2.0 RS e:HEV CVT – Php 1,990,000
And as you can see above, the launch of the refreshed Honda Civic also marks the arrival of another electrified model from the Japanese automaker in the Philippine market, after the Honda CR-V which was launched last year.
This means the Civic can now be had with the brand’s e:HEV powertrain on the RS grade. This combines a 2.0-liter LFC-H4 Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that runs on the Atkinson Cycle and produces 141 horsepower and 182 Nm of torque to an electric motor that makes 184 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque, and a lithium-ion battery pack. The system is mated to an e-CVT.
The RS can also be had with the same 1.5-liter L15B Inline 4-cylinder DOHC VTEC Turbo gasoline engine from before, still making 178 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, mated to an Earth Dreams CVT. This powertrain is also the only option for the entry-level V variant.
In terms of design, the updated Honda Civic is still very similar to the previous version but with some changes to keep it fresh and more attractive to buyers.
It’s pretty much like what we saw on the North American and Thai versions which were revealed a few months ago. First is a new and more angular front bumper with larger upper and lower front grille designs which also get a honeycomb mesh pattern. The fog lights have been removed and the taillight lenses get a darker shade.
All variants get full LED headlights and combination rear lights. The V grade gets 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels and chrome window surrounds. Going for the RS variants give you 18-inch matte black alloy wheels (same design as before for RS Turbo), gloss black exterior accents, a tailgate ducktail spoiler, and RS badging.
Exterior colors remain the same with options of Ignite Red Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl. New colors—Canyon River Blue Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl have been added to the option list with the former exclusive to the RS e:HEV.
Inside is where the updated Honda Civic remains more identical to before with the same overall design that follows Honda’s Simplicity and Something design language.
The V Turbo variant still comes with fabric seats, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, and an eight-speaker audio system. It now gets a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Google Built-In.
Moving up to the RS Turbo CVT and RS e:HEV variants gets leather and suede seat upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless phone charger, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, a 10.2-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, eight-way power adjustable driver seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Just like the pre-refresh version, the Honda SENSING driver-assistance suite is standard on all variants of the 2025 Honda Civic. This is composed of Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Auto High-Beam (AHB), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF), and Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN).
The 2025 Honda Civic is also now compatible with Honda CONNECT. This allows the vehicle to be connected with its owner through a smartphone app where it can provide the following functions:
- Automatic Collision Detection
- Security Alarm
- Speed Alert
- Geo Fence
- Find My Car
- Emergency Call
- Car Status
- Vehicle Dashboard
- Remote Vehicle Control
- Service Reminder
As with other Honda vehicles, buyers will be taking advantage of a three-year or 100,000 kilometer vehicle warranty, whichever comes first. Those who purchase the RS e:HEV will also get an additional eight-year or 200,000 kilometer battery warranty.
With all these changes and additions, and the availability of a hybrid, do you think Honda Cars Philippines will be able to sustain their segment bestseller status with this new Civic?
