PEVS 2024 | BYD Cars PH goes all out on performance with Seal, priced at Php 2.548M
After the successful launches of their Sealion 6 DM-i compact crossover and Seagull small EV hatchback, BYD Cars Philippines is showing no signs of slowing down as they launch yet another new model to their quickly expanding lineup.
The Chinese automaker, under the distributorship of ACMobility, launched at the 2024 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) the BYD Seal performance midsize electric sedan.
For the Philippine market, the BYD Seal is available in a single AWD variant that is priced at Php 2,548,000.
And since it is the AWD, the local-spec BYD Seal is powered by dual electric motors paired with an 82.56 kWh BYD Blade Battery (LFP). It produces a total of 530 horsepower and 670 Nm of torque. BYD quotes a 0 to 100 kph acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds, and it can drive an estimated 580 kilometers on a single charge.
As part of BYD’s Ocean Series, it’s unsurprising that the Seal wears a similar design language as the Sealion 6 with its C-shaped headlights and soft curves all around. The rear gets a faux diffuser for a sportier look, and full-width lightbar with a diamond light pattern.
Inside, the Seal should look familiar if you’ve seen what you get with BYD’s other models, especially with its swoopy curvy lines and the large rotating infotainment screen.
The Philippine-spec BYD Seal comes with a comprehensive standard feature list but just to name a few, you’ll get—full LED exterior lighting, 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Continental tires, a panoramic glass roof with a detachable cover, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system, dual wireless phone chargers, leather seats, and a heads-up display.
Buyers can choose from four different exterior paint job options—Arctic Blue, Aurora White, Cosmos Black, and Atlantis Gray (shown in photos).
It is also equipped with BYD’s DiPilot advanced driver-assist safety suite, giving it full-speed adaptive cruise control with stop & go, collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane change assist, lane departure warning, speed limit control, front and rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and blind spot detection.
BYD Cars Philippines is targeting the likes of the Toyota Camry, Lexus IS 300h, and BMW 318i with the Seal AWD. Do you think it has what it takes to sway buyers from those more established nameplates?
