Earlier this year, we got to check out and experience for ourselves the Jaecoo J6 in Wuhu, China, at the sidelines of the Auto China 2024.

This compact electric crossover features off-road SUV-like styling, and is based on the iCar 03 which is built and designed by Chery. Well, it’s coming to the Philippines as Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines (O&J) recently previewed it at the now concluded 2024 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS).

To be called the EJ6 here with the “E” signifying that it’s fully-electric, it will be the Chinese automaker’s second full EV offering for our market once they launch. Being the small car that it is, it measures at 4,342mm long, 1,930mm wide, and 1,741mm tall, and riding on a 2,715mm wheelbase.

Looks-wise, it’s very boxy, showing cues from other popular and larger off-roader SUVs from different brands. Compared to what we saw in China though, the one previewed here has a slightly different appearance as you can probably tell from the photos.

You’ll find L-shaped headlights in front along with a prominent Jaecoo name on the center. Both the front and rear lights also have distinct diagonal line patterns.

The Jaecoo EJ6 is certainly eye-catching.

Inside the EJ6, it makes use of mostly straight lines, following the boxy nature of the exterior. There’s a 9.2-inch digital driver’s display, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired to a 12-speaker Infinity premium audio system

As mentioned, the Jaecoo EJ6 is fully-electric. We don’t know if we’ll get the RWD or AWD version but the former gets a single electric motor matched with a 65.69 kWh battery pack. This produces 184 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque with an estimated driving ranger of 410 kilometers

On the other hand, the latter gets dual electric motors and a slightly larger 69.77 kWh battery pack. In total, this produces 278 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque. Range is also slightly increased at an estimated 421 kilometers.

O&J Philippines says the Jaecoo EJ6’s prices will be announced soon.

O&J Philippines says that they’ll be announcing pricing for the Jaecoo EJ6 soon. As to when, we don’t know, especially considering we’re still not aware of an actual launch date for the brand as a whole. Hopefully soon is actually soon?
