A few months after its launch in our market, the refreshed Kia Carnival is getting more with the addition of a new Turbo HEV variant.

Yes, that means the longest-running Kia nameplate in the market now gets an electrified option. It is also the first electrified gasoline-powered model in the Kia Philippines lineup with its introduction also marking the first time the minivan gets a non-turbodiesel in the local market.

This is currently the most powerful Carnival in the Philippines.

Powering this is a 1.6-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder Smartstream G engine paired to a 54 kW electric motor and battery. It produces a total combined output of 245 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

Looks pretty much the same as any other Kia Carnival.

And while it remains largely the same as the other variants in the styling and standard feature departments, there are a few changes that are exclusive to the hybrid. For starters, it is equipped with rear ventilated disc brakes and matte black-finished 19-inch alloy wheels. It also gets active aero flaps for better aerodynamics.

Available exterior colors are Aurora Black Pearl, Ceramic Silver, and exclusive to the Turbo HEV is Ivory Silver.

The interior gets a special color scheme.

Inside, it gets a variant-exclusive Navy Blue and Misty Gray color scheme, a heads-up display, digital rear-view mirror, and a rotary gear selector dial. In addition to those, it also gets acoustic paneling which should provide a quieter ride with reduced road noise.

An additional hybrid monitor and rotary dial are among the variant-exclusive features.
Second row Premium Relaxation Seats are shared with the 2.2 SX variant.

Just like the 2.2 SX variant, the hybrid is exclusively available as a seven-seater with second row Premium Relaxation Seats. You can check out other features here.

You don’t need to shell-out that much more for the turbo-hybrid.
