The days of free charging for plug-in hybrid and fully-electric vehicles may soon come to an end as ACMobility announces that they will start collecting fees for their use starting December 12, 2024.

The company will implement a fee of Php 28.50 per kWh for AC charging, and Php 35.00 per kWh for DC charging across all its charging stations in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The reason behind this is to encourage timely charging sessions, allowing more users to be able to take advantage of the charging stations. Issues of vehicle owners overstaying at charging stations have been increasing lately and this is one of the best solutions for that.

Just for comparison, Shell collects the same fees for users of its Shell Recharge stations while Petron currently collects a fee of Php 25.00 per kWh (DC charging) at its Petron KM23 NLEX Marilao Northbound charging station.

Introducing charging fees enables ACMobility to reinvest in our network, allowing us to maintain and expand our infrastructure while delivering a consistently high-quality service,” said ACMobility CEO Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala. “True to our commitment of providing the best value to our customers, we aim to make every charging experience as accessible, reliable, and convenient—enabling worry-free journeys across NCR and beyond.”

ACMobility is targeting to have more than 250 charging points across the country by the end of 2024. The complete list of currently operating charging stations can be seen here.
