The PH-spec 2025 Toyota Camry starts at Php 2.651M

Fresh from the big launch of the all-new Toyota Tamaraw, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has yet another gift for us. That’s the introduction of the ninth generation of the Camry midsize sedan.

Initially previewed for our market at this year’s edition of the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), the Toyota Camry is the only surviving Japanese midsize sedan nameplate in the Philippine market. For this new generation, it gets a major redesign inside and out, new technology, while sitting on the same underpinnings.

As with the previous generation, only one variant is available—the 2.5 V HEV. Pricing starts at Php 2,651,000 for the Attitude Black Mica exterior paint job, while the Platinum White Pearl and new Precious Metal options command a Php 20,000 premium (SRP: Php 2,671,000).

In terms of design, the new Camry follows Toyota’s other new models in terms of design direction with sleeker and sportier design details unlike the outgoing and previous generations which were usually more “uncle-friendly” in their design.

The front fascia takes on a revolutionary redesign with Toyota’s new signature Hammerhead design first seen on the Prius and Crown. It features slim C-shaped headlights and taillights, and a large lower front grille. The rest of the exterior is somewhat an evolution of the outgoing generation with a similar body and roofline shape.

It’s also slightly longer now measuring at 4,920mm of length (+35mm). Width and height still measure the same at 1,840mm and 1,445mm, respectively.

Inside, the all-new Toyota Camry takes on a more modern and upright design with the horizontal theme. As with most new vehicles, screens dominate the dashboard with a new dual-screen layout. The interior is also finished in a two-tone black and tan color scheme.

Rear passengers will appreciate the presence of manual window shades, a power sunshade for the rear windshield, and reclining seat-back function. Controls are also available on the center armrest.

Standard features include full LED exterior lighting, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, leather+suede seats, manual rear sunshades, power rear windshield shade, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a nine-speaker JBL audio system, and a wireless phone charger, among others.

Under the hood, just like the last iteration of the previous generation, the all-new Toyota Camry is available exclusively with a hybrid powertrain. That combines a 2.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder A25A-FXS engine that produces 186 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque, paired with a 100kW electric motor that produces 208 Nm, and a lithium-ion battery. 

This is mated to an E-CVT with total combined electric and ICE output at 227 horsepower. It also has a claimed fuel economy figure of 25 km/l.

For safety, Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0 is equipped, giving it a pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, lane tracing assist, blind spot monitor, and rear cross traffic alert. It also gets a 360-degree panoramic view monitor.

As mentioned at the start of this article, the Toyota Camry is the only surviving Japanese midsize sedan nameplate in our market (the Mazda 6 Wagon does not count). With that, its niche will only go stronger and we think Toyota Motor Philippines has yet another unopposed winner in their hands.
