Mazda CX-30 in PH gets new tech and safety upgrades for 2024

Mazda Philippines was quite busy last year, giving its lineup some updates to keep them fresh and competitive. They’re not done yet and this time, they’ve given their subcompact crossover, the CX-30, a little update for 2024.

The Mazda CX-30 was first introduced to the Philippine market in late 2019. Based on the fourth-generation Mazda3, it competes with the likes of the Subaru Crosstrek and Honda HR-V, among others. Since its launch, it has received a handful of updates with this latest one probably being the biggest one as well.

On the outside, the 2024 Mazda CX-30 looks largely the same as the previous version, wearing the brand’s signature Kodo design language. New for this year are the new black chrome finish for the front grille, and the piano black window trim

The interior also remains largely the same but does also get a few new treatments such as gun metallic accents on the door handles, dashboard, climate vents and controls, and transmission shifter ring. It also gets new Terracotta Leather and Leganu Suede seat upholstery, while black leather and Leganu Suede can also be found throughout the cabin.

The biggest changes are in the tech and safety departments. First, the 2024 Mazda CX-30 gets a new and larger 10.25-inch Mazda Connect infotainment screen. No longer a touchscreen, it makes use of physical controls in the center console and steering wheel. This still also comes with wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity.

On the safety side, the 2024 Mazda CX-30 gets additional features in the i-Activsense suite of advanced driver-assistance tech in the form of Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Front Cross Brake Support (FCBS), Rear Cross Brake Support (RCBS), and a Driver Monitoring System (DMS).

Under the hood remains Mazda’s M-Hybrid powertrain. This is composed of a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated e-Skyactiv-G engine paired to a 24-volt lithium-ion battery and integrated electric motor which sends additional power to the drivetrain, and powers the vehicle’s electronics. In total, it produces 164 horsepower and 213 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

With plenty of changes done to the Mazda CX-30 for 2024, you’re probably expecting a huge price increase. That isn’t the case here as it has a suggested retail price of Php 1,995,000, a mere Php 5,000 increase compared to before. As always, customers will also be able to enjoy Mazda’s Five-year Free Service Plan.

What do you think of the updated 2024 Mazda CX-30?
