Initially previewed for the Philippine market at a media thanksgiving event late last year, the Hyundai Santa Fe is now in its fifth generation, ever since the nameplate first saw light in the turn of the millennium. With that out of the way, here’s everything you need to know about it.

First, the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe will be initially available in three variants: GLS 2WD, GLS AWD, and Calligraphy AWD. An additional hybrid variant will be added to the lineup by the second half of 2024, as confirmed by HMPH.

As for its design, it takes the midsize crossover to a whole new level with a bolder, futuristic, and boxy rugged appearance, designed to appeal to the growing market for rugged-looking modern vehicles. Making it stand-out are various H elements all over the exterior from the front grille and bumper designs, daytime running lights, and taillights.

Also despite the boxy shape, Hyundai was able to make the all-new Santa Fe more aerodynamic by reducing the vehicle’s drag coefficient to 0.29 versus the previous generation’s 0.33.

Standard exterior equipment starting from the GLS 2WD and AWD variants are multi-reflector LED headlights, automatic headlight function, LED daytime running lights and center garnish light, LED taillights, rear fog light, power-folding side mirrors with heating function, dual sunroof, power tailgate, rear spoiler, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Going for the top-spec Calligraphy AWD adds projector LED headlights with low beam assist, 21-inch alloy wheels, and exterior assist handle.

Available exterior colors for the GLS 2WD and AWD are Abyss Black Pearl, Creamy White Pearl, and Magnetic Gray Pearl, all paired to an Obsidian Black interior. The Calligraphy AWD can be had with all those color combinations with the addition of Earthy Brass Matte, Terracotta Orange, and Ocado Green Pearl matched with interior color options of Obsidian Black, Black Ink, and for indent order–Forest Green.

Inside, Hyundai has given the Santa Fe a similar treatment as with their other newer products. The horizontal and boxy theme follows here together with dual large screens housed in a curved display. Recycled materials also make up much of the interior’s finishes and it also offers more space and more storage areas thanks to the boxy exterior.

The H theme also continues here with the H-shaped airconditioning vents and dashboard mood lighting, as well as other H elements all around. The Calligraphy variant even gets Premium Relaxation Seats in front which allows front occupants to recline and stretch-out for a little bit more comfort.

In addition, a Fingerprint Recognition system acts as a driver recognition system by adjusting the seats and settings of the vehicle based on the vehicle’s user once the sensor is touched.

The top-spec Calligraphy AWD adds a nappa leather seats, Premium Relaxation front seats with heating and ventilation and driver’s memory function, heated rear seats, heads-up display, UV-C sterilization tray for mobile phones, and dual wireless phone chargers.

Powering the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe are two different powertrain options. The GLS variants get a 2.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder Smartstream G gasoline engine that produces 194 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and options for a 2WD or AWD drivetrain.

On the other hand, the top-spec Calligraphy variant gets a 2.5-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder Smartstream G gasoline engine that produces 281 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that sends power to all four wheels.

As expected, Hyundai Motor Philippines, and pretty much Hyundai globally, will no longer be offering this generation Santa Fe with a turbodiesel powertrain. The turbocharged gasoline engine’s output numbers are also at par with the previous diesel option. Also as mentioned, a variant with a hybrid powertrain is expected to be added to the lineup.

That is on top of other standard safety features—dual front airbags, side airbags, side curtain airbags, anti-lock braking system with multi-collision braking, electronic stability control with trailer stability assist, hill start assist control, tire pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX childseat anchors.

You can also get the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe in some unique colors.
