Next generation Nissan X-Trail will be getting more power
A few weeks ago we saw images of what could be the next generation of Nissan’s X-Trail crossover. Just a few days ago we got some more details about the soon to be launched vehicle. Both power and fuel economy figures were posted on an automotive website, showing some improvements over the current engine option.
The article by CarsDirect mentions that the figures are from an early document for fleet customers. It states that the new X-Trail (or Rogue in other markets) will be getting an engine with 180 hp and 237 Nm of torque. The figures are an increase of 11 hp and 4 Nm respectively. There is no information in the report as to whether this will be from a new powertrain or will still be the same 2.5-liter engine. Based on current trends however, the powertrain could either be a new 2.0-liter turbo or a hybrid system.
The current generation Nissan X-Trail is powered by a choice of either a 2.0-liter gas engine with 142 hp and 200 Nm of torque, or a 2.5-liter gas engine with 169 hp and 233 Nm of torque.
Estimated fuel economy figures have also been leaked. The engine if paired with a front-wheel drive drivetrain should be expected to make 29 to 30 miles per gallon or around 12 to 13 kilometers per liter on average. Fuel economy for AWD models as well as a possible launch date is still unknown at this point.
