Nissan Almera misses-out on five stars in recent ASEAN NCAP testing

The Nissan Almera has failed to gain a five-star safety rating from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP), instead once again receiving a four-star safety rating, more than 10 years after the previous generation model was first tested by the automotive safety rating program.
The assessment was done in June this year, on the facelifted Thai-market version which was first released in 2023. It received a total of 74.74 out of 100 points based on four categories under the 2021-2023 protocol.

The results per category is as follows:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) – 36.34 out of 40 points
- Child Occupant Protection (COP) – 16.35 out of 20 points
- Safety Assist (SA) – 13.74 out of 20 points
- Motorcyclist Safety (MS) – 8.30 out of 20 points
As to how the Nissan Almera missed-out on a perfect five-star rating despite its availability with several passive and active safety features, this was caused by lower scores in the SA and MS categories which were equivalent to four stars, therefore lowering the average score for all categories combined.
Nissan Philippines currently offers four variants of the Almera locally, with most coming equipped with advanced driver-assist systems under the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite.
