Updated Nissan Almera spotted testing in PH

It looks like Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) may be getting ready to update its subcompact sedan entry soon as a heavily camouflaged unit of what looks like the updated Almera has been spotted on Philippine roads.

The photos for posted by a Facebook user on the Interesting Car Spotting Philippines Facebook group while driving somewhere along EDSA, Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare. The spotting also comes at a right time as NPI just recently discontinued local sales of the top-of-the-line VL N-Sport variant of the Almera.

The refreshed Nissan Almera was revealed a couple months ago for the North American market as the Versa with a handful of exterior enhancements which are visible on the camouflaged vehicle such as its new and larger front grille with horizontal slats, and a new bumper design. It also gets new alloy wheels from the US market Versa as seen on the test vehicle.

We don’t have photos of the interior but it is highly likely to stay the same. Hopefully, like the US-market Versa, we get to see a center armrest as well. Other stuff are expected to remain the same such as the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment and 7-inch TFT display on the instrument cluster.

Under the hood, the updated Nissan Almera will likely remain powered by a 1.0-liter Inline 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 100 horsepower and 132 Nm of torque, paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a 5-speed manual transmission.

The updated Nissan Almera has not yet been revealed for the ASEAN market. With this unit spotted locally, it won’t be a surprise if it makes its regional debut at the upcoming 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show this March. It could also make an appearance at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show this coming April.
