The 2022 Nissan Terra is officially here, pricing starts at Php 1.649M

It may have been pushed back by the pandemic, but there’s nothing stopping Nissan Philippines as a few months after introducing the updated version of its popular pick-up truck offering in the country, the company is bringing in the heavily updated version of its equally popular mid-size SUV offering.

First introduced in November last year for the Middle Eastern market as the X-Terra, the Philippines is the second market in Southeast Asia to receive the updated version of the Nissan Terra after Thailand. The 2022 Terra gets various design changes inside and out.

For 2022, Nissan Philippines has trimmed the lineup to 4 variants instead of 5 like on the outgoing model. The lineup still starts with the base EL 4×2 M/T but skips the EL 4×2 A/T. Next is the midrange VE 4×2 A/T, VL 4×2 A/T, and top-spec VL 4×4 A/T.

So what’s new for 2022? First, the updated Terra gets a heavily revised exterior design. The front fascia gets new headlights, grille, and bumper designs. The hood and fenders have also been changed. On the side, changes are less obvious but the updated Terra rides on a new set of alloy wheels. At the rear, changes are obvious once again with new slimmer taillights and a more sculpted tailgate. It’s also very well equipped inside and out.

Standard exterior equipment on all variants are quad LED projector headlights with automatic on/off and follow-me home functions, LED daytime running lights, LED foglights, LED taillights, a chrome front grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, power-adjust and folding mirrors, roof rails, and a rear spoiler. Moving up to the VE 4×2 A/T adds rain-sensing wipers. The VL 4×2 variant adds more niceties like rear disc brakes, auto-folding mirrors, and silver roof rails and running boards.

Inside, the 2022 Nissan Terra is a huge departure from the pre-facelift model. It features a completely new dashboard layout and design with a more modern and premium look. The center console has also been redesigned with a new gearshift lever. And of course, there’s the new steering wheel similar to that of the 2021 Nissan Navara.

For interior features, starting with the base EL 4×2 M/T variant, standard equipment and features are a black interior, fabric seats, push-button start, 3 type-A USB ports, 2 type-C USB ports, a 7-inch advanced display for the instrument cluster, 6-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moving up to the VE 4×2 A/T adds cruise control.

Going for the VL 4×2 A/T adds several more features like black leather seats, 10-way power-adjust driver seat, Burgundy Red interior accents on the armrests and dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 9-inch NissanConnect® touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay (wireless) and Android Auto, an 11-inch flip-down rear monitor with HDMI connection, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped gear shift knob, and an electronic parking brake. Lastly, going for the top-spec VL 4×4 A/T will give you an 8-speaker BOSE® premium audio system.

There are also a handful of technical changes that should make the Terra driving experience a more comfortable experience. These include additional insulation materials that reduce the entry of unnecessary outside noise into the cabin, and improved steering tuning.

Under the hood, the 2022 Nissan Terra for the Philippine market still gets the same 2.5 L Inline-4 Cylinder YD25DDTi Turbo Diesel Engine that produces 187 horsepower (190 PS) and 450 Nm of torque, across all variants. This is also still paired to a 6-speed manual transmission for the base variant, and a 7-speed automatic transmission for the rest of the lineup.

In terms of safety, the 2022 Nissan Terra still gets the usual Six Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Start Assist, and Rear Parking Sensors as standard across all variants. The VL variants get a Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Front Parking Sensors while the VL 4×4 adds Hill Descent Control.

All but the base EL 4×2 M/T variant are also equipped with Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a suite of advanced safety technology that will assist you while driving. Starting from the VE 4×2 A/T, an Intelligent Rear View Mirror/Monitor, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Warning as standard. The VL variants both get an added Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM/360-degree Camera) with Moving Object Detection, Blind-Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The VL 4×4 A/T also adds an Off-Road Monitor to the IAVM.

The 2022 Nissan Terra is now available at all Nissan dealerships nationwide. Pricing for the lineup is as follows:

  • 2.5 EL 4×2 M/T: Php 1,649,000
  • 2.5 VE 4×2 A/T: Php 1,829,000
  • 2.5 VL 4×2 A/T: Php 1,999,000
  • 2.5 VL 4×4 A/T: Php 2,339,000

2022 Nissan Terra buyers will also be able to take advantage of a 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty just like on the Nissan Navara. This covers the vehicle’s mechanical and electrical parts.

It’s safe to say that the 2022 Nissan Terra is more than just a simple facelift. Do you think all these upgrades will be able to convince you or other buyers to choose it over its other competitors?
