Nissan PH teases 2022 Almera, launching soon?
Nissan Philippines has been on a roll lately. In total, they have launched three models so far this year starting with the updated Navara in March, the fully-electric LEAF in May, and the heavily revised Terra earlier this month. Model number four seems to be coming very soon.
On its official social media pages, Nissan Philippines has posted a set of teasers of what is obviously the fourth generation of the subcompact sedan which was already introduced in neighboring ASEAN markets such as Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, and Vietnam. In fact, it was even spied testing on local roads.
For the new generation Almera, Nissan has done away with the friendly and happy face styling of the outgoing model and instead went with an aggressive look that matches the rest of the brand’s latest model lineup. Of course, the Almera now proudly wears Nissan’s V-Motion grille. The interior has also been upgraded with a more modern design.
Based on the shadowy teasers, we can expect the top-spec 2022 Almera to be similar with the Malaysian market’s VLT variant with its sportier alloy wheel design. What Nissan did not hide is some of the equipment which should include LED headlights, silver side mirror trim, soft-touch leather trimming on the dashboard, a new 8-inch NissanConnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster, and even a 360-degree around-view monitor
There is no specific mention as to what will be found under the hood but Nissan PH really isn’t hiding anything. Shown on the teaser is a VL Turbo badge which means the Almera will be getting a new 1.0L HRA0 turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces 100 hp and 152 Nm of torque. As expected from a Nissan, the engine is paired to a CVT.
As for safety, we won’t be surprised to see if the 2022 Almera will be equipped with Nissan Intelligent Mobility. This should give at least the top-spec VL variant some driver-assist features such as Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW), Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB), Blind Spot Warning system (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and the already mentioned Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM) with will most likely come with Moving Object Detection (MOD).
Nissan Philippines has not announced any exact launch date but given the number of teasers, it could well be very soon. If we were to base on the teasers, the 2022 Nissan Almera’s launch should be very exciting especially for buyers looking for a well-equipped vehicle in the subcompact sedan segment.
