Nissan Reveals 2021 Patrol Nismo With 428 Horsepower V8 Engine

Nissan revealed the 2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo to the world earlier today through a virtual event hosted at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The new race-inspired version of the Patrol combines the refinement of a luxury SUV and the exhilarating performance of a sports car. It was designed for those who seek the premium luxury of the iconic Nissan Patrol, and simultaneously crave the exhilaration that comes from increased power performance and superb handling.

“Since the launch of the NISMO brand in the region, we have listened to our customers to understand their evolving needs, and worked with our global teams to deliver a NISMO product that not only addresses customer demand, but also takes the iconic Patrol experience to a whole new level. With the 2021 Patrol NISMO, our customers can experience the thrill of handling a car with a racing spirit and turn heads as they glide through the streets.” says Nissan Middle East Managing Director Thiery Sabbagh.

While it looks similar to the updated Patrol that is already available in overseas markets (and hopefully soon in the Philippines), the Nismo version receives some styling upgrades such as a new honeycomb grille design along with new front lamps and horizontal chrome lines embellished with the Nismo emblem. The rear is more symmetrical in design with dark chrome inserts and new tail lamps. It also includes LED rear fog lights inspired by the Nissan Formula 1 car. The signature Nismo red line wraps around the vehicle’s base. Also, it rides on 22-inch, two-tone aluminum wheels that sport the Nismo logo to add a distinctive aesthetic. The SUV’s tuned suspension features Bilstein shock absorbers, which provide a sportier and improved handling.

Inside, the Patrol Nismo also receives various upgrades over the standard Patrol. These are alcantara and leather seats, alcantara steering wheel with red carbon fiber inserts, and headrests embossed with the Nismo logo. In addition, the Patrol Nismo’s cabin quietness has been improved to provide a quieter and more comfortable ride.

In terms of performance, the 2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo is still powered by the same 5.6-liter V8 petrol engine but produces 28 more horsepower than the standard Patrol. This bring total output to 428 hp while torque remains the same at 560 Nm. A key design upgrade to the Patrol Nismo is the addition of a side duct to the front bumper to achieve zero lift force. It also gets a cumulative wheel weight reduction of 4.5 kgs. A new roof spoiler also ensures smoother airflow over the rear. In addition, the adoption of a large thermal capacity has resulted in an improved braking performance, while the body structure enforcement allows for better handling at high speeds.

As expected the 2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo is equipped with the latest Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) technologies to provide drivers with peace of mind while driving. The latest additions to this safety suite include Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Smart Rear View Mirror and a High Beam Assist.

For those in the Philippines looking to own one of these, it looks like you’ll have to check with your nearest gray-market vehicle importers as this SUV will be available exclusively to customers in Middle Eastern markets.
