Nissan shows-off all-new X-Trail in China
Last year, Nissan took the wraps off the all-new Rogue compact crossover SUV in the United States. Those familiar with the Japanese brand’s global lineup will know that the Rogue and X-Trail are essentially the same vehicle with just a different name.
Nissan has now once again showed-off the model, and this time at the Auto Shanghai 2021, now badged as the X-Trail which means that we now know what the company’s Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 will look like once it reaches our shores.
There wasn’t much information provided about the X-Trail but we do know that based on its North American counterpart, the all-new generation is smaller than the outgoing model with a length that is shorter by 1.5-inches and height that is lower by 0.2 inches. Its front fascia also takes inspiration from the current generation Nissan Juke in overseas markets, which sadly may not be offered in our market. As shown in the photos released by Nissan in China, the X-Trail retains pretty much all design details from the Rogue.
Inside, the all-new X-Trail gets a very premium looking interior Nissan’s Zero Gravity Seats as well as a 9-inch NissanConnect touchscreen infotainment system. There’s also a digital driver’s instrument cluster and an electronic gear shifter.
If the all-new X-Trail will share its powertrain with the US-market Rogue, we are expecting it to have a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated direct injection gasoline engine under the hood. Power should be up by 11 hp bringing it to 181 hp, and torque is at 245 Nm, paired to a continuously variable transmission. There is no mention yet whether the current base 2.0-liter gasoline engine in the Philippine-market X-Trail will still be available.
The all-new Nissan X-Trail will be launched in China in the second half of this year.
