NLEX to increase toll fees on March 2, 2025

Motorists on NLEX will have to pay higher toll fees.

Motorists heading to provinces north of Metro Manila via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will have to prepare to shell out some extra funds as the expressway’s operator will be implementing a toll hike on March 2, 2025.

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has authorized the expressway’s operator to increase its toll fees by Php 5 in the open system, and Php 0.72 per km in the closed system.

For travelers on the open system, this equates to an additional Php 5 for Class 1 vehicles, Php 13 for Class 2 vehicles, and Php 15 for Class 3 vehicles.

Meanwhile, those traveling the entire length of NLEX will have to pay an additional Php 57 for Class 1 vehicles, Php 142 for Class 2 vehicles, and Php 171 for Class 3 vehicles.

NLEX says that these toll adjustments went through regulatory procedures and were reviewed thoroughly before approval. The company says fhat these are the consolidated amount of the first tranche of the approved periodic adjustments of NLEX due in 2023 and the add-on toll for the completion of the Php 7.7-billion Third Candaba Viaduct in 2024. The increase due in 2023 was deferred and divided into two tranches to ease the impact on expressway users.

For reference, the NLEX open system runs from the cities of Navotas, Valenzuela, and Caloocan to Marilao in Bulacan. The closed system goes from Bocaue, Bulacan to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City.
