OFFICIAL: The Toyota GR Corolla is coming to PH

We already knew it was coming, but now it’s officially official! Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will be launching the GR Corolla in our market soon, possibly as the Japanese automaker’s last hurrah for this year.

Once it’s launched, the highly anticipated hot hatch will be the fourth addition to TMP’s local high performance Gazoo Racing lineup which is currently composed of the GR 86 sports coupé, the GR Supra two-door liftback coupé, and the GR Yaris three-door subcompact hatchback.

Local specifications are unconfirmed at the moment, but these will likely remain identical to what other markets that already have the five-door hatchback get. 

That includes its 1.6-liter turbocharged G16E-GTS three-cylinder engine that produces 304 horsepower and 400Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission or eight-speed Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT). 

TMP’s teasers on the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippines social media pages also clearly show the facelifted version’s updated front bumper design that’s made for better cooling and aerodynamics, among other functions.

Hopefully we find out more about Toyota’s latest performance model for our market soon, for now all we can do is wait.
