Refreshed Nissan LEAF launched in PH, still priced at Php 2.798M

Over a year after launching its first fully electric vehicle offering in the country, Nissan Philippines is introducing an updated version. Meet the 2023 Nissan LEAF, unveiled today at the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

The refreshed Nissan LEAF features various upgrades that not only will keep it fresh, but will also improve its energy efficiency when driving on the road.

For exterior changes, the 2023 Nissan LEAF gets a redesigned front grille which is larger than before and gets the new Nissan logo. The housings for the headlights on the other hand are now in black. There is also a redesigned rear tailgate spoiler and rear bumper diffuser for a sportier look. Rounding up the exterior changes are new 16-inch alloy wheels which now come with a geometric pattern for a more futuristic appearance.

Inside, changes to the LEAF are minimal with only a new Intelligent Rear View Mirror, similar to that of the Nissan Terra midsize SUV. This projects an image of the rear of the vehicle onto the rear view mirror, allowing for better rear visibility. The rest of the interior remains the same except for the new Nissan logo on the steering wheel.

Under the hood of the Nissan LEAF remains powered by a 40 kWh battery paired to an electric motor that produces 110 Kilowatts of power or an equivalent of 148 horsepower, and 320 Nm of torque. It can drive from 0 to 100 kph in 7.9 seconds and can go as far as 311 km with a single charge. Charging should take 15 to 18 hours when using the standard universal cable for home charging. Owners can also bring their Leaf to quick charging stations found in select Nissan dealerships where it can fully charge in just 40 to 60 minutes.

For driving convenience, it also gets an e-Pedal. This feature allows drivers to accelerate and brake the vehicle through the use of a single pedal. This not only makes it easier to drive the LEAF, but also reduces driver fatigue.

In terms of safety, the Nissan LEAF is of course still equipped with Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM). This suite of advanced driver-assistance safety technology gives the LEAF stuff like Intelligent Forward Collision Warning with Intelligent Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning with Intelligent Lane Intervention, and Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, among others.

Pricing for the 2023 Nissan LEAF remains unchanged at Php 2,798,000. Like before, it is available at select Nissan dealerships, specifically those under the management of the Gateway Group. These are Nissan Mantrade Makati, Nissan Global City, Nissan Manila Bay, Nissan Otis, Nissan Bacoor, Nissan Palawan, Nissan Abad Santos, Nissan Cebu North, Nissan Matina, and Nissan Tagum.
