Leg 2 of the 2025 Toyota Gazoo Racing PH Cup was the most action-packed so far

There was a lot of action at the TGR Philippine Cup Race Weekend 2.

“It will be boring,” they said. That’s what a lot had in mind upon first seeing the new street circuit track layout for the second race weekend of the 2025 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup. And boy did that change once the action started.

Held at the Villar City in Cavite, the country’s one-make race series returned to the streets after seven years. Also closer to Metro Manila, it attracted more than 12,000 visitors during its three-day run from May 23 to 25, 2025 (Friday to Sunday).

The street circuit returns to Toyota’s one-make race series after seven years.
Of course, the Toyota Vios is still the star.

As with the first leg of this season, racers were divided into four classes: Novice, Sporting, Super Sporting, and Legacy, utilizing the Toyota Vios OMR car.

All racers competed on the 2.4km long makeshift street circuit which featured 14 turns (including two hairpins and six chicanes). This provided for a thrilling experience not only for them, but also spectators who were there to witness the different wheel-to-wheel action and different incidents.

TMP President Masando Hashimoto continues to race in the Novice Class.

Even Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) President Masando Hashimoto himself who continues to compete in the Novice Class was unable to finish the race after he hit the central barriers and flipped-over. He thankfully came out of the incident with no injury.

But even he encountered incident. He’s okay!

The race weekend also saw the debut of the Tamaraw Racing Concept which performed a Drag Race Exhibition, and shows off what can be done to the iconic utility vehicle nameplate in the world of motorsports. If you want to know more about it, you can read about it here.

Despite not being a racer, we even got to try the track ourselves, joining different Toyota and Lexus car clubs. The track was surely one to not forget.

Of course, musical performances by OPM icons Rico Blanco, Parokya Ni Edgar, Ely Buendia, and Bamboo were held, along with the Toyota Drive Fest which brought event-exclusive deals and test drives for brand-new Toyota and Lexus vehicles, and the chance to purchase certified pre-owned vehicles from T-Sure.

The first version of the current-gen Vios continues to race in the Legacy Class.

Race Weekend 3 of the 2025 season of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup will return to the Clark International Speedway in Clark, Pampanga in August, with the promise of more street racing action in future seasons of the country’s largest one-make race series.

The next race weekend will return to Clark, Pampanga.
