The BMW iX can now drive up to 701 km on a single charge
BMW is making improvements to its all-electric iX midsize crossover a little over four years after it first came into the world in late 2020.
These updates for the 2025 model year come in the form of a few styling changes on the outside and equipment changes inside. The biggest change involves its powertrain which now has three states of tune to choose from.
On the xDrive45 trim, its electric motors now produce a combined 408 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque which allows it to go from 0 to 100 kph in just 5.1 seconds. This is paired to a 94.8 kWh lithium-ion battery that lets it drive for up to 701 km.
Meanwhile, on the xDrive60, the motors make a combined 544 horsepower and 765 Nm of torque, for a 0 to 100 kph acceleration time of 4.6 seconds. Its larger 109.41 kWh battery allows it to drive for up to 602 km.
And if those numbers aren’t enough, there’s the M70 xDrive which produces a combined whopping 659 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of torque with a 0 to 100 kph acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds. Its 108.9 kWh battery gives it a range of up to 600 km.
Complementing the upgraded electric powertrain are a few changes on the outside which includes simplified bumpers, new patterns for the signature BMW Kidney grille that also now gets illumination, and a new headlight cluster design.
There are also new designs for the alloy wheels which range from 20- to 23-inches in diameter, depending on the variant. The M Sport and M70 xDrive versions naturally come with a slightly more aggressive look.
Several new exterior paint job options are also now available. These are Arctic Race Blue Metallic, Dune Grey Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey Metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey Metallic, Tanzanite Blue Metallic, and Space Silver Metallic. There’s also the BMW Individual Exterior Line Titanium Bronze exclusive for the xDrive45 and xDrive60 trims.
Inside, it is largely the same as before such as the BMW Curved Display housing the driver’s instrument cluster and infotainment system, utilizing BMW Operating System 8.5. A Harman Kardon premium audio system also remains as standard.
New is the availability of M multifunction seats which should offer better support and aesthetics. This is standard on the M70 xDrive, and an option for all other variants. Also available as options are a two-tone instrument panel, M steering wheel, and dark silver trim.
Production of the new 2025 BMW iX will continue at the BMW Group Plant in Dingolfing, Germany with key markets such as the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The question now is when will it arrive here in our market. Knowing BMW Philippines and their complete lineup, it’ll only be a matter of time.
