The BYD eMAX 7 wants to electrify the MPV segment, here’s everything you need to know

BYD is far from running out of any new models to bring to our market. This time around, BYD Cars Philippines, under ACMobility, is electrifying the subcompact MPV segment with the eMAX 7.
A segment-first all-electric MPV, the BYD eMAX 7 will be launching at the upcoming 2025 Manila International Show (MIAS) this coming April 10-13. It aims to compete head-on with mainstream models such as the Toyota Veloz and Zenix, Mitsubishi Xpander, among others.
At launch, it will come available in two variants: Standard and Superior Captain. Pricing has not yet been announced but BYD Cars Philippines says it will range at around Php 1.6- to Php 1.8-million.
Going into the details, let’s start with the powertrain. As mentioned, the eMAX 7 is the first model in the segment to come fully-electric with its single front electric motor setup that makes 310 Nm of torque.

In the Standard variant, it produces 163 horsepower, paired to a 55.4 kWh BYD Blade Battery allowing it to drive up to 420km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Superior Captain’s motor produces a higher 204 horsepower, paired to a larger 71.8 kWh battery, with a driving range of up to 530km.
Charging can be done via Type 2 AC charging or CCS2 DC fast charging. It will take about nine hours from 0 to 100% on the Standard, 13 hours for Superior Captain, and just 30 minutes from 30 to 80% for both through DC charging.

In terms of size, the BYD eMAX 7 sits right in the middle of the segment, measuring at 4,710mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,690mm tall, and riding on a 2,800mm wheelbase.

It wears what BYD calls the Dragon Face 3.0 which is also seen on the Atto 3, Han, and Tang. This gives it a sleek front fascia with Crystal Floating Headlights, along with Floating Taillights which from a full-width light bar at the rear.

Standard exterior features on both variants are full LED lighting, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and power folding side mirrors. A panoramic glass roof, roof rails, and power tailgate are exclusive on the Superior Captain.
Four colors are available for the eMAX 7, these are Crystal White, Cosmos Black, Quartz Blue, and Harbour Grey.

Opening the doors of the eMAX 7 reveals a more simple and elegant cabin compared to other BYD models we’re used to. As expected, premium materials can be found all-around and it offers seating for seven on the Standard, or six on the Superior Captain.

Standard interior features are brown leather seat upholstery, an analog gauge cluster with a five-inch LCD display, 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six-speaker audio system, and automatic climate control.

The Superior Captain adds in a wireless phone charger, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, and ambient lighting.

In the safety department, the Superior Captain variant is equipped with BYD’s DiPilot ADAS suite. This gives it adaptive cruise control, front and rear automatic emergency braking, lane departure assist, blind spot detection, front and rear collision warning, and rear cross traffic alert. Both variants also get a full 360-degree camera system.

Again, pricing is yet to be announced but we won’t be surprised to see it coming very competitively like other models from the Chinese automaker. We don’t have to wait too long for it to be available as the 2025 Manila International Auto Show is just around the corner.
