The Chery Tiggo 2 crossover is priced like a hatchback
It’s been over a year since COVID-19 first entered our country and almost a year since the first lockdowns happened. Now we’re still in the midst of this pandemic and safe, dependable mobility continues to be more and more important.
There was a time when fully-equipped small sedans in the market were priced at just around the Php 700,000 range. These days they are already in the Php 900,000 ballpark while the Php 600,000-plus category are mostly tiny hatchbacks.
But did you know that for just under Php 700,000, you can get a true compact SUV with the high ground clearance to give you the confidence to negotiate Metro Manila’s notorious flash floods?
The easy-on-the-pocket full-featured SUV
The Chery Tiggo 2 is the brand’s entry-level SUV and is priced at just Php 695,000. The Tiggo 2 is powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and has a space-efficient body with a generous wheelbase of 2,555mm.
The sleekly styled Tiggo 2 boasts projector-type headlights with LED daytime running lights matched by LED taillights. It also comes with a stylish and functional spoiler under the front bumper, side skirts, and a rear wing. The Tiggo 2 is even available with two-tone black-top finishes that combine with red, orange, blue, or white lower body colors.
The interior of the Tiggo 2 has a unique 2-tone, class-exclusive orange-and-black combination that gives its cabin a sporty and upscale ambience. Its ergonomic dashboard has an integrated central console which flows seamlessly from the dash, giving the Tiggo 2’s controls a more natural and more comfortable feel.
Cargo space is commodious at 420 liters, and may be further expanded, thanks to the 40:60 split-folding rear seats. Versatility comes from the 21 individual storage spaces found throughout the cabin.
For infotainment, there’s an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone screen mirroring which lets you access and mirror your smartphone through Apple CarPlay on the Tiggo 2’s display. Android phones can also be mirrored. The Tiggo 2’s display supports 1080p HD videos. The system also has a USB port, so you can enjoy high-quality multimedia files onboard with support for almost all documents, pictures, music and video formats. The Tiggo 2’s touchscreen is also equipped with a reverse radar and reverse image with dynamic guidelines to help you maneuver safely.
Last but not the least, the Tiggo 2 is equipped with Hill Hold Control (HHC), which keeps the vehicle from rolling backwards on an uphill incline, as well as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which helps ensure vehicle control on slippery roads.
A unique safety feature not common among cars is the Tiggo 2’s speeding alarm system in which you can set a certain speed between 40 to 120 km/h to prevent unintended overspeeding, which also comes with the M/T shift reminder to ensure smooth and fuel-efficient driving. The Tiggo 2 also has an automatic real-time Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Upon purchase, the Tiggo 2 is automatically covered by Chery’s first-in-the-industry warranty services inclusive of the 10-year engine warranty, 5-year general vehicle warranty, 3-year roadside assistance and 3-year Preventive Maintenance Service for free.
The Chery Tiggo 2 comes with manual or automatic transmissions: the 1.5 M/T (Php 695,000) and the 1.5 A/T (Php 770,000). The two-tone variant retails for Php 795,000. And to keep the car purchase easier, CHERY Auto Philippines has also made the Tiggo 2 more affordable with a cash discount of PHP 90,000. This can also be availed through a low monthly amortization as low as PHP 5,655 under the automaker’s CHERY-fic OX-some deals New Year promo which runs until March 31, 2021.
