The Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid could be coming to PH soon

It looks like Chery Auto Philippines is set to bring its first hybrid vehicle (HEV), that isn’t a plug-in hybrid, to our market soon.
The Chinese automaker, under the distributorship of United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI) seems to be gearing up to launch the Tiggo Cross HEV, based on a memorandum circular from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) that was published early this month.
According to the said document, the Chery Tiggo Cross will pack a 1,498cc (1.5-liter) four-cylinder gasoline engine paired to an electric motor, with a maximum output of 150kW (or 204 horsepower), and paired to a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

Looking at what other markets have, these numbers match those of the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system-equipped versions.
The CSH combines a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter engine with a 71kW electric motor. The LFP battery has a 1.83kWh capacity, and the system produces a combined maximum output of 204 horsepower and 310Nm of torque, mated to a single-speed DHT.

Prior to its renaming as the Tiggo Cross, the subcompact crossover was known as the Tiggo 5X and Tiggo 5X Pro, with the latter being available with a turbocharged mild-hybrid powertrain.
When the Tiggo Cross was launched at this year’s Manila International Auto Show, Chery Auto Philippines discontinued the mild-hybrid version and made the crossover solely available with a pure-ICE powertrain, along with some major styling updates.

If launched, we can expect the Tiggo Cross HEV to have a similar feature set as the current Tiggo Cross offered. This should include 10.25-inch screens for the driver’s instrument cluster and infotainment system, sport bucket seats, and LED exterior lighting.
