The Honda Accord is a top safety pick for 2020 in the ASEAN NCAP
Honda has a lot of reasons to celebrate after they bagged a total of four awards in the safety department from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP) Grand Prix Awards 2020.
Of the four awards, the Honda Accord won three from the “Best Safety Performance” while the Honda City received the “ASEAN NCAP Excellent Award – Consistent 5 Star”.
The 10th generation Honda Accord, which has been awarded a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, received 3 awards from “Best Safety Performance” category in “Adult Occupant Protection” (AOP), “Child Occupant Protection” (COP) and, “Overall,” the highest score of the overall assessment.
The model made its ASEAN debut in Thailand in March 2019 and has since expanded sales to six other countries. It has received several awards in ASEAN countries such as:
- Thailand: “Best Mid-Size Sedan under 2,000 cc”, Car of the Year 2019
- Malaysia: “Executive Sedan of The Year”, Carlist.my – People’s Choice Awards 2019
- Philippines: “Best in Safety Features-Midsize Sedan”, Auto Focus People’s and Media’s Choice Awards 2020
Locally, the 10th generation Honda Accord made its debut in the Philippine market last September 2019 with Honda SENSING, the brand’s safety suite of driver-assist features to prevent and effectively respond to dangerous driving situations as standard.
