The Honda CR-V gets more rugged with new TrailSport

Honda is expanding its TrailSport line of rugged and off-road lifestyle-oriented models with the introduction of the new CR-V TrailSport Hybrid for the North American market.
Positioned as the most capable version of the long-running crossover nameplate, the CR-V TrailSport gets additional mostly appearance-based goodies to show that it’s designed to go off the beaten path.

While looking largely similar overall, the CR-V TrailSport gets some rugged design touches such as a silver front bumper garnish; a gloss black finish for the rear spoiler, door handles, and window surrounds; and orange TrailSport badging on the front grille and tailgate.

Most obvious are the new bi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels with a Shark Gray finish, wrapped in 235/60 R18 Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires. Also exclusive to the TrailSport is the Ash Green Metallic exterior paint job.

Inside, the CR-V TrailSport Hybrid gets all-season rubber floor mats, amber interior ambient lighting, and the TrailSport logo embroidered into the front seat headrests.

Powering the Honda CR-V Trailsport Hybrid is still the brand’s dual-motor hybrid system composed of a 2.0-liter engine paired to electric motors and a battery pack, making a combined 207 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.
AWD variants (including non-TrailSport) now get a new enhanced traction management system. Working at speeds of below 15kph, the system automatically applies the brakes to wheels with less grip, while torque is increased on those with most traction.

Now the TrailSport is still a North American-exclusive line for Honda which means we are unlikely to get the CR-V TrailSport Hybrid in our market. Although, who’s to stop Honda Cars Philippines from making their own version, right? Do you think they should make something similar?
