The Honda Prelude could be priced at Php 3.498M

We already know that Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) is now taking pre-orders for the Prelude two-door grand tourer, but the biggest question is how much it will cost once launched.

With much controversy in other markets, whether it’s because of its hybrid powertrain from the Honda Civic, or its similar styling as a mainstream hybrid liftback from another Japanese brand, there’s also its price. And it looks like its price will be a strong point of contention here in the Philippines.

No formal announcement has been made by HCPI regarding the Prelude’s retail price, but a post by a Honda dealership, specifically Honda Cars Nueva Ecija, gives us an early preview at how much. According to them, it will be priced at Php 3,498,000

Now we’ve heard several rumors as to how much the grand tourer will cost, but the figure we’re seeing is definitely much higher. Not seven digits, but definitely higher. This also puts it close to the Honda Civic Type R’s retail price before it was discontinued, at around Php 3,880,000.

While the current Prelude has been known to be very expensive, this puts it in a rather unfortunate position, especially when you consider the other enthusiast-oriented options currently available in the local market.

Now, just to be clear, that price could not be final as it hasn’t been officially announced by Honda Cars Philippines. Things could still change, but we won’t be surprised if it’s already final.
