The Lexus RZ 600e F Sport Performance is the EV crossover turned up to 11

Japan always gets the cool stuff, especially when it comes to crazy cars from the likes of Toyota and its luxury arm, Lexus. From the likes of the LBX Morizo RR to a send-off IS 500, the latest special edition model from the brand comes in the form of the RZ 600e F Sport Performance. However, this car is more than just a simple aesthetic package and a power bump.

Sitting at the top of the RZ range, this features a comprehensively reworked powertrain. While Lexus doesn’t say what it did in detail apart from tweaking output limits from its 76.96kWh battery, the RZ 600e is now capable of pushing out a maximum system output of 425.5 horsepower, with each of its two electric motors independently capable of 227 horsepower and 268Nm of torque.

The 0-100kph sprint is done in 4.4 seconds, and the range is still a respectable 525km, but it’s not just all power. The car sits 20mm lower than the RZ 550e F Sport; it has way less drag, and the vehicle comes with 20-inch brake rotors with six-piston brake calipers (front), hiding behind the massive staggered 21-inch wheels from Enkei.

The vehicle’s crazy aggressive aerodynamics package is seen in its large front splitter, flared fenders, carbon fiber turning vanes behind each wheel, and a crazy dual carbon rear wing on the roof and rear. You can get this in either Black and Hakugin II (a matte white) or Black and Neutrino Gray.

The interior also features the controversial yoke steering wheel, but it has been tuned alongside the Interactive Manual Drive system, a way for the car to simulate shifting gears in an electric car, complete with sound, shift shock from a “virtual 8-speed transmission”, and “engine braking”. It also comes with a special black-and-blue cabin, with Ultrasuede upholstery, and sport seats.

Considering that this car will only be offered in Japan, it is very unlikely that we’ll see this make its way to our country, but the tech featured in the RZ 600e will eventually trickle down to future Lexus models.
