The MG HS is back in PH as a hybrid, priced at Php 1.398M

Hybrid compact crossovers such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 are fairly popular in our market. They are however quite pricey, making them out of reach for many buyers. MG Motor Philippines has the answer to that with the HS which makes its Philippine comeback.
The all-new HS was first previewed with a plug-in hybrid powertrain at last year’s Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). But instead of offering that, the Sino-British automaker has decided to go with a more simple hybrid setup instead with the HS Hybrid+.
Powering the MG HS Hybrid+ is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine making 143 horsepower and 230Nm of torque, paired to a 146kW electric motor. Combined system output is a healthy 224 horsepower and 340Nm, mated to a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).
Paired to a 1.83kWh battery, MG Motor Philippines also claims that it’s capable of a 21.55km/l fuel economy figure, and over 1,000km of driving range which is close to the PHEV version’s 1,065km claimed range. Top speed is also rated at 190kph.

In terms of looks, it’s a huge departure from the previous generation, wearing MG’s current design language as seen on the MG 3, and ZS. It’s sleeker and more aggressive design thanks to the slim wraparound headlights and a large front grille, and also features a full-width light bar with an X-shaped pattern at the back.

The interior has also been heavily modernized with sleeker lines, as well as a single panel housing dual screens for the driver’s display and infotainment system.
Standard equipment include matrix LED headlights, front and rear fog lights, blacked-out 19-inch alloy wheels, power tailgate with hands-free function, panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and an eight-speaker audio system.

Available exterior colors are Black Pearl, Lunar Gray, Pearl White, Champagne Silver, and Diamond Red. All of these are paired to a black interior.
It also gets a full suite of advanced driver-assist features under MG Pilot. That includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic jam assist, blind spot detection, front and rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist, among others.

The MG HS Hybrid+ is priced at Php 1,398,888. MG Motor Philippines is also offering it for a limited time with an introductory price of Php 1,388,888. Buyers will be able to take advantage of a seven-year vehicle warranty, an eight-year hybrid battery warranty, and five-year free roadside assistance, all with unlimited mileage. Also included is the first preventive maintenance service (PMS) for free.
