The Mitsubishi Destinator, Delica Mini, and Delica bag design awards for 2025

Mitsubishi Motors has some pretty good designers on tap, with its previous products like the Xforce and Triton bagging the Good Design Awards in previous years. The Japan Institute of Design Promotion does this yearly, and for this year, Mitsubishi’s three vehicles— the Destinator, the second-generation Delica Mini, and the Delica series have won the manufacturer three more awards for 2025.
For the Philippine-bound Destinator, the model wins its first Good Design Award. Its design concept of Gravitas & Dynamism won the hearts of the jury, with them noting that the car’s exterior has been sculpted with geometric lines that give it a “solid and stable presence”, yet has been softened by the various expressive surfaces around the design.

The T-shaped design cleanly integrates the headlights that are usually split vertically, and the blacked-out pillars and roofline give it a clean and simple form. And finally, the interior has been well designed to allow for a good combination of practicality, spaciousness, and a calm space for seven passengers to stay in.

Then, the second-generation Delica Mini wins a more prestigious award in the Good Design Award Best 100, with the vehicle’s Daily Adventure #2 design concept building on the predecessor.
With a very distinct front face with larger circular headlights, it has an expression that blends friendliness and toughness, alongside the spaciousness of the cabin. Plus, the official mascot known as “Delimaru” has been integrated across the car, differentiating it from its sibling counterpart, the Nissan Roox.

And finally, the Delica gets the Long Life Design Award, which showcases how the vehicle’s overall design has constantly been evolving to fulfill the model’s “core mission” of to “safely transport people and cargo” since the launch of the model in 1968. With five generations under its belt, the Delica is well deserving of this award.
