The newest Nismo product looks to be…an X-Trail, but why?

With Nissan’s latest teaser, it seems like we may be getting another new Nismo product thanks to that distinctive red front lip, but the silhouette is very similar to what the X-Trail looks like up front.
While a bit of a head-scratcher, considering that the X-Trail is one of the last few cars that you’d expect to get a shot in the arm courtesy of Nissan Motorsports, you do have to remember that Nissan has done given this treatment to several other of its “regular” cars, like the Japanese-only Note Nismo or even the Patrol Nismo.
At the moment, nothing has been confirmed at all, but it will be easy to guess that it will come with the same scarlet-lipped body kit, larger wheels with stickier rubber, a sportier interior with Alcantara upholstery and red accents, and most likely, power and handling adjustments to the vehicle’s e-Power drivetrain.
With the car’s reveal slated for tomorrow, we can only find out more once news has officially broken.

But should Nissan Philippines ever bring in the X-Trail e-Power (as it was previewed at the Philippine International Motor Show), the Nismo variant may prove to be a good contender to the likes of the Honda CR-V RS e:HEV, and the next-generation Toyota RAV4 GR Sport, should Toyota Motor Philippines decide to bring that in.
