The newest Subaru Forester is on its way to the PH

After months of silence, it seems that the folks at Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru in the Philippines, are cooking something up. Recently teased is the sixth-generation Forester, but with a twist.
Usually, manufacturers are quite secretive about what details are revealed during teasers, but one thing is plain as day: the fact that this car will be utilizing the new e-Boxer Hybrid powertrain, alongside the caption of “Something strong is coming”.

Obviously, all things point to Subaru’s new Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (SHEV) powertrain, first revealed earlier this year. Basic specs of this powertrain include a 2.5-liter Atkinson and Miller-cycle naturally aspirated flat-four, mated to a high-capacity lithium-ion battery, an electric motor generator, plus an electric traction motor.
The power output sits at a grand total of 194 horsepower, and is also capable of driving up to 935km on a single tank of gas, a huge improvement over Foresters of the past with their very thirsty un-electrified boxer engines.

Typical with most Subaru offerings, this will come with the Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system with X-Mode, 220mm of ground clearance, and the typical suite of EyeSight safety systems.
More details will be revealed in the coming days, but there’s one thing for sure: it’s about time the Forester nameplate finally gets electrified.
