The Nissan Tekton is an all-new Patrol-inspired crossover that’s assembled in India

Nissan has just teased its latest global model in the Tekton, which is a C-SUV (compact SUV) model made to compete against the likes of the Toyota Yaris Cross, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Suzuki Fronx.
This will be the second product manufactured in India (the Chennai plant, to be specific) after the Magnite, as part of Nissan’s “One Car. One World.” effort. It will be made in partnership with Renault to be sold within India and specific markets globally, once it arrives in 2026.

The brief teasers of the Tekton show how much inspiration it draws from the Patrol, with a hood with both a power valley and dome, Nissan’s new C-shaped daytime running light signature, and a rugged lower bumper.
According to Nissan, the side profile is “imposing and muscular”, with a “Double-C” shaped accent with a mountain range motif that’s inspired by the Himalayan mountain range. And towards the back, the C-shaped taillights are also connected by an illuminated lightbar, and the “TEKTON” wordmark stamped across the lower half of the tailgate.

The name “Tekton” comes from the Greek word for “craftsman” or “architect”, also aligning with Nissan’s values, and the target market of those who want to “shape their world”. Will we see it in our country?
It’s too early to tell, as we’re still waiting for Nissan Philippines to finally start selling the Magnite in the country, and the company will still have to gauge the reception of the market for that model.
