The Uncharted is a new odd-looking EV from Subaru

Oh, look, it’s another electric vehicle from Subaru, coming after the reveals of the updated Solterra and the all-new Trailseeker earlier this year. And to complete the trifecta of crossovers, the Uncharted joins in on the fun.

For starters, the Uncharted is the smallest EV in its lineup, similar in size to the Crosstrek. Subaru says this is its “most sporty” electric vehicle, with a unique fastback-style design, the same headlights and “front grille” with an illuminated badge as the Solterra and the Trailseeker, and a taillight design that mimics the front headlight shape.

Wheel sizes range from 18 inches with aero covers to 20 inches, and there’s tons of plastic cladding all around. If this shape looks oddly familiar, that’s because this car is the Toyota C-HR+’s twin, similar to how the bZ4X and bZ4X Touring are essentially the Solterra and the Trailseeker.

This means this e-TNGA-based Subaru is front-wheel-driven or all-wheel drive, both mated to a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery. The former has 221 horsepower and up to 482km of range from a single charge, while the dual-motor variant pushes the power up to 338 horsepower but brings the range figure down to up to 466km.

Being a US model, the charging port uses the NACS standard, capable of working with Tesla Supercharger stations in the US. This allows for speeds of up to 150kW to fill up from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes. It also features the EyeSight suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

Finally, the interior looks very much like its Toyota-based siblings, featuring a large 14-inch touchscreen, a squared-off steering wheel with a distant digital gauge cluster, dual wireless charging pads, and “outdoorsy” orange trimmings to match the available water-repellant upholstery. Available upgrades include a heated steering wheel, a 360° camera, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a digital rearview mirror, and a Harman Kardon sound system.

Once it goes on sale in 2026, should Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru in the Philippines, offer these electric models, or focus on bringing over the electrified variants of its current lineup first?
