These are the possible engines of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300
Around the world, one of the most awaited car reveals is of the next generation Toyota Land Cruiser, dubbed the Land Cruiser 300. The next gen version of Toyota’s premium off-road SUV is well overdue for a redesign and has been delayed multiple times.
While there have been several leaks and renders on what it may look like, we’ve been able to find online what appear to be different parts for the LC300, including what engines it will have under the hood and wheel sizes.
We got these leaked information from Kurdistan Automotive Blog on Instagram. These give us good information on what we can expect from the next generation Land Cruiser once it is revealed hopefully this year.
First is the design, it appears that the next generation Land Cruiser will receive more of an evolution rather than a revolutionary redesign. The basic overall shape and design of the 300-series Land Cruiser will remain almost the same as the 200-series. Even the front grille and taillights will remain similar to the LC 200 but with a more modern design. For the wheels, there are five different designs shown with sizes ranging from 17-inches to 20-inches. The 17-inch design is a steel wheel while the 18- and 20-inch designs are alloy wheels.
Next and rather important is the engine choices. The photos show two engine options, the first is Toyota’s 1GR-FE engine. If that sounds familiar, that’s because that engine currently powers the FJ Cruiser and Land Cruiser Prado available in our market. It is a 4.0 L V6 petrol engine that produces as much as 270 hp and 377 Nm of torque. Given that the Land Cruiser is a large vehicle, it will probably be tuned to produce more power and torque to match those of the LC 200. The second option is the V35A-FTS engine from the Lexus LS 500. This is a twin-turbo V6 petrol engine capable of 416 hp and 600 Nm of torque. As of now, there is no news yet as to what exact specifications diesel-powered Land Cruisers will have as there is news that the current 1VD-FTV twin-turbo V8 diesel engine available in our market will be discontinued in favor of a V6 diesel.
Hopefully we can find more details in the coming months about the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. Even Toyota Motor Philippines announced that they will be launching the said model locally this year so it could mean that we may see it anytime soon.
