These new and future Geely models are coming to PH

The Geely brand is having a slow but sure resurgence in our market. The brand had its relaunch under its new management, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP), in February, and new model launches in June.

Those two models were the Okavango Elite, the updated version of the popular midsize SUV, and the EX5 compact crossover, the brand’s first fully electric offering for our market. There are more coming and it surely sounds exciting.

This was announced by the company during a recent media trip to Ningbo and Hangzhou, China, where its global headquarters, and some manufacturing facilities and R&D centers can be found. Coming are not one, not two, but five new models.

Confirmed to arrive in 2026 is the Geely EX5 EM-i, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the EX5 full EV, competing directly with the very popular BYD Sealion 6 DM-i. This will be powered by a 1.5-liter engine and 18.4kWh battery that allows it to drive up to 1,000km on a single full tank of gas and full charge.

Also set to launch is the Geely EX2 fully electric hatchback, also poised to compete with BYD, particularly the Seagull and Dolphin. This one will be powered by an 85kW electric motor (116 horsepower) and is quoted to have a driving range of up to 395km on a single charge with its 39.4kWh battery

But that’s not all. Geely also gave a glimpse of a handful of codenamed models that are also set to arrive in the Philippines in the coming years.

These include another PHEV compact SUV, codenamed as the P155, also targeting would-be BYD Sealion 6 DM-i buyers. This will measure at 4,770mm long, and rides on a 2,845mm wheelbase, hinting at it possibly being a PHEV version of the Monjaro, a premium midsize two-row crossover.

It will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) that sends power to all four wheels, and a driving range of up to 1,000km thanks to its 18.4kWh battery

For those looking for something very affordable, there will be an ICE-powered budget subcompact sedan, currently codenamed as the AMA01. This could possibly be based on the Proton Saga MC3, and will be aimed at taking sales from the Mitsubishi Mirage G4. It’ll measure at 4,335mm long and will be powered by a 1.5-liter NA engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Last but not the least, a PHEV compact sedan, codenamed the P162, that will compete with the BYD Seal 5 DM-i. This one measures at 4,806mm long and rides on a 2,756mm wheelbase. Based on those dimensions, it could be the Geely Galaxy Starshine 6, and it will be capable of driving up to 1,300km

Surely interesting times for Geely in the Philippines. Do you think these new and upcoming models are enough for customers to regain interest in the brand?
