This is the all-new Audi A6 Avant (C9)

Audi’s new wagon is refreshingly called the A6 Avant again.

Audi has just debuted the all-new A6 in the Avant station wagon form factor, with the sedan presumably following in the coming months.

Originally, this was supposed to be the A7 Avant following Audi’s decision to rename its entire lineup with odd numbers for ICE-powered vehicles and even numbers for EVs (as the case with the already existing A6 e-tron), but the automaker has backtracked on that decision, hence the A6’s lineage will continue.

This is underpinned by the new Premium Platform Combustion architecture, and is dimensionally similar to the previous generation, except that it’s been lengthened by 58.42mm to 4,988.56mm.

Unlike its electric cousin, the C9 A6 looks more like an evolution of the previous C8-generation A6.

While this isn’t the S or RS-line variant, the design is significantly more aggressive, with the large front grille and vents, and the optional 21-inch multi-spoke wheels (which range from 18 inches upwards), especially with those flared rear fenders. It’s also the most aerodynamic ICE-powered Audi, with a drag coefficient of 0.25.

The signature configurable matrix LED headlights are still a single-unit affair, alongside a rear full-width lightbar underneath the OLED taillights, and there are real exhaust tips, too.

The interior design is lifted straight from Audi’s newer products like the A5 and Q6 e-tron, with a large panel housing an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, with an optional 10.9-inch third passenger-side display.

It also has optional niceties such as an electronically adjustable panoramic glass roof that can selectively dim specific parts at will, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a complete ADAS system, and an air quality package with an ionizer and fine dust sensor.

The A6 comes with three different powertrains all mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline with 204 horsepower and 340Nm of torque, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with the same horsepower output but 400Nm of torque, and a 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline V6 with 367 horsepower and 550Nm of torque.

The latter two engines are also mild hybrids, with a 48V electric motor that can propel the car forward at low speeds or while coasting, and can provide an additional power bump of up to 24 horsepower and 230Nm.

We’re excited for the new RS6 when it comes out.

Audi has made improvements to both driving dynamics and comfort, thanks to improvements in chassis stiffening, improved steering feedback and feel, and better insulation within the cabin. There’s even optional adaptive air suspension, all-wheel steering, and a Quattro sport differential. The base 2.0-liter gasoline engine comes only in front-wheel drive, while the diesel can also be optioned with the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The V6-powered mill comes standard with Quattro.

If you live in Europe, you can already order yours now with first deliveries starting at the end of May 2025. As for whether Audi Philippines will bring them in, the automaker currently sells the sedan variant of the A6 and the RS6 Avant, meaning it might as well be a matter of time before we see the new model on our shores.
