Toyota bZ4X gets LTO approval, is it finally arriving in PH?

The Toyota bZ4X has been a bit of an enigma ever since it was shown off at last year’s Philippine International Motor Show, with Toyota Motor Philippines not having any news on when the vehicle will finally be released.

One year after its initial preview, we finally get news from the Land Transportation Office as the bZ4X finally passes through the agency with homologation papers.

According to the document, the bZ4X will be coming with a dual-motor setup, with the front producing 224 horsepower and the rear churning out 118 horsepower. The lithium-ion battery (with no stated capacity) has a maximum range of 456km from a single charge, and can charge via both AC (in 7 hours) and DC in 28 minutes.

It measures 4,690mm long, 1,860mm wide, and 1,650mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,850mm, riding on 20-inch wheels.

These specs don’t line up with the refreshed variant that was unveiled earlier this year, which introduces sharper styling, improved tech, and, more importantly, a longer range of up to 573km and faster charging, but this could possibly mean that we might get a region-specific variant that hasn’t been introduced yet in the market.

Regardless, this will be exciting to see Toyota Motor Philippines’ first full electric offering go up against the competitors from China.
