Toyota Gazoo Racing will be the title sponsor of the Haas F1 Team in 2026

Last year, Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) made its debut in Formula 1 after becoming the technical partner of the Haas F1 Team, where TGR has helped advance the team through sharing its expertise, knowledge, and resources.

Many thought that this would be Toyota playing the long game to make its return to Formula 1 since 2009, but it seems that reality may happen sooner, as Toyota will now become the title sponsor of the Haas F1 Team, replacing the digital payment firm Moneygram.

Ayao Komatsu, Gene Haas, and Akio Toyoda.

This comes as great news to many hoping for Japanese representation on the Formula 1 grid ever since Yuki Tsunoda lost his Red Bull seat to Isack Hadjar for 2026, being relegated to the reserve/test driver role within the team.

This could be a chance for Yuki to make his way back to the grid, or even any of the TGR drivers, such as Ryō Hirakawa, Ritomo Miyata, Sho Tsuboi, and Kamui Kobayashi, who all had F1 test sessions recently.

Of course, this isn’t a complete takeover (yet?) as this will run alongside Haas’ agreement of being a Ferrari customer, with them still using the power unit, gearbox, other parts, and the utilization of Ferrari’s simulator at Maranello. However, the agreement will soon bear fruit as a personal simulator will be installed in Toyota Gazoo Racing’s head office in Banbury, Oxfordshire, United Kingdo, to which Haas will be utiliing as well.

We will be able to see the team’s 2026 online come January 23, followed by the private Barcelona test sessions, starting January 26.
