Toyota Motor PH announces recall for Raize

The Toyota Raize is being recalled for its ECU.

Are you one of the many Toyota Raize owners in the country? Well you might want to check-in with your preferred Toyota dealership for a recall.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced a special service campaign for the popular subcompact crossover, involving 28,828 units that were produced from December 1, 2021 to July 15, 2024.

The reason behind this recall is the vehicle’s engine control unit or ECU. The company’s recall announcement reads as follows:

Due to improper programming of the engine ECU, under certain driving conditions, such as frequent braking operation in high altitude areas, there is a possibility that the suction pressure in the brake booster could not be maintained as designed. If this occurs, this could make the brake pedal harder to press, which means the vehicle might take longer to stop.”

Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by TMP through an official notification letter, and will be invited by authorized Toyota dealers to bring their vehicles in for ECU reprogramming. As with every vehicle recall, this will be done free of charge.

You may check if your vehicle is included in the recall through this link. Other options are by contacting your nearest or preferred authorized Toyota service center, by reaching out to the TMP Customer Assistance Center at +63 2 8819 2912 or [email protected], by sending a message to the official TMP Facebook page, or by using the ‘Contact Support’ function of the MyToyotaPH mobile app.
