Toyota Motor PH quietly adds hybrid Corolla Altis GR-S to lineup
Back in April, Toyota Motor Philippines introduced the GR-S variant of the Corolla Altis compact sedan. At that time, only the non-hybrid powertrain came with it. That is until now as the Japanese automaker has quietly introduced the Corolla Altis 1.8 GR-S Hybrid to its lineup. By the way, GR-S stands for Gazoo Racing Sport.
The new 1.8 GR-S Hybrid variant replaces the former top-spec variant, the 1.8 V Hybrid. The new variant was also displayed at the recently concluded 8th Philippine International Motor Show. Just like the 1.6 V GR-S variant, the new 1.8 GR-S Hybrid variant gets a handful of GR Sport upgrades inside and out.
Looking at both the exterior and interior, it’s basically the same as the 1.6 V GR-S. It gets GR-S front and rear bumpers, GR-S front grille, blacked-out side mirrors, GR-S 17-inch alloy wheels, and GR badges all around. It also gets a GR-S MacPherson strut front suspension and GR-S double wishbone rear suspension. Other standard features such as LED headlights, LED taillights, and power-folding mirrors remain as standard.
Inside, the Corolla Altis 1.8 GR-S Hybrid gets leather seats with red accents, red door accents, GR-S engine start button, and GR-S floor mats. Other standard features are an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 6-speaker audio system, and automatic climate control.
Under the hood, the Corolla Altis 1.8 GR-S Hybrid is still powered by a 1.8-liter Inline 4-cylinder 2ZR-FXE gasoline engine paired with an electric motor. Combined, it produces a total of 122 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque, paired to a continuously variable transmission.
In terms of safety, the 1.8 GR-S Hybrid comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) which gives it Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beams, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
Pricing for the new Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8 GR-S Hybrid is not yet available as of this writing.
